The so-called gell is non-existent. When I washed it before first use, the "gell" balled up into golf ball size clumps. This product is a rip off and provides no comfort. Any positive reviews are obviously planted by the seller/manufacturer, knowing most people will not send it back. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Fill is not uniform but works well overall, January 24, 2009 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Newpoint International 200-Thread Count Cotton, Gel Filled Mattress Pad (Kitchen) The fill on this cover runs down the length of the bed in long chambers. Unfortunately two of the chambers on the cover I received were nearly empty at the bottom. The difference in chambers is obvious and it's impossible to spread out the fill to even it out. Even so, the cover makes a HUGE difference and I no longer feel like I need to replace the mattress.

It is advertised as gel filled but it just seems like normal cheap filling to me. Washing it results in lumpy padding. The reviews that are claiming that this pad makes a big difference to the softness of their mattress either received a different pad than I received or the reviews are bogus. If I had it to do again, I would spend a little more and get a better quality mattress pad.
